THE SKIN MICROBIOME
The microbiome is the natural ecosystem of bacteria and other organisms that live on the skin. These bacteria are mostly good bacteria that help protect the skin from harmful bacteria and external aggressors.
When this protection is compromised by the significant presence of bad/harmful bacteria, it could trigger skin conditions such as; acne, dry skin, eczema and other negative skin conditions. This is not to say that an unbalanced microbiome is the sole cause of these skin conditions, however, it could definitely contribute to them. Hence, the importance of making sure your microbiome is in a healthy state at all times.
OUR SERUM
Our Clarifying Microbiome Defence Serum is a microbiome strengthening serum that gently exfoliates and clarifies congested skin.
Our serum contains ingredients that work together to fortify the microbiome, reduce the occurrence of breakouts, decongest pores and fade dark spots. The ingredients in our serum transform unhealthy, decongested and clustered skin to clearer, smoother and more resilient skin that is less prone to congestion and breakouts.
THE KEY INGREDIENTS
Mandelic Acid: It is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) that gently exfoliates the skin. The smaller the molecular structure of an AHA, the faster it penetrates the skin and causes a higher chance of irritation. Mandelic Acid has the largest molecular size, making it the most gentle AHA.
Mandelic Acid sets itself apart from other AHAs because it goes the extra mile by unclogging pores. It is antibacterial and reduces acne causing bacteria. It also has good hyperpigmentation fading properties.
Willow Bark Extract: It is soothing and antibacterial ingredient that is derived from several types of willow trees (black or white willow tree). It is a rich source of antioxidants and salicin. Salicin is an anti inflammatory ingredient that helps with reducing the occurrence of breakouts and refines pores.
Lactobacillus Ferment: It is an ingredient formed by the fermentation of the good skin bacteria Lactobacillus. It is a probiotic that boosts the skins ability to defend itself from harmful bacteria and aggressors. It helps to reduce and soothe inflammation and keep the microbiome healthy.
Succinic Acid: It is a dicarboxylic acid that has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. These help to reduce the appearance of breakouts and soothe irritation.
HOW TO USE
On clean skin, apply 2-3 drops/pumps unto face. Use it once a day for three to four consecutive days every week. Use at night for the best results. Make sure to follow up with a moisturiser and always wear SPF while using this product.
